The Archdiocese of Kolkata will hold a Holy Mass to declare St. Mother Theresa as the co-patroness of the local church, marking the first anniversary of Mother Theresa’s canonization. Mother Theresa will be then the patron of the archdiocese alongside St. Francis Xavier. Sr. Prema, the Superior General of the Missionaries of Charity made the announcement during a two-day art presentation dedicated to St. Theresa of Kolkata.

As reported by catholicnewsagency, His Excellency Archbishop Thomas D’Souza of Kolkata remarked that “We wanted to make mother our co-patroness and we seek her intercession and give her the prominence that is due especially in a city like Calcutta and the Archdiocese of Calcutta.”

Mother Theresa will be declared as the co-patron of Kolkata Archdiocese on 6th September 2017, in the Cathedral of the Most Holy Rosary.
