In a statement released by the Archdiocese of Yangon on 6th September, 2017, His Eminence Cardinal Charles Bo of Yangon asked the Catholic faithful in Myanmar to be spiritually prepared to help ensure the success of the first papal visit to their country. His Lordship guided the country’s 700,000 Catholics on how they could spiritually prepare for Pope Francis’ November 27-30 visit.

As reported by ucanews.com, His Eminence Cardinal Bo stated that “Say special prayers for the Pope’s visit every day make the intention while saying the rosary daily, pray at Holy Mass.”  His Holiness Pope Francis is expected to arrive in the business capital Yangon on November 27, 2017, where he will take part in various meetings and will travel to the capital Naypyidaw to meet President Htin Kyaw and State Counselor Aung San Suu Kyi on November 28, 2017.

The Papal visit comes after Myanmar and the Vatican established full diplomatic relations on May 4, shortly after His Holiness Pope Francis met privately with Suu Kyi at the Vatican.
