Sushma Swaraj, External Affairs Minister of India has requested Yemen’s Deputy Prime Minister Abdulmalik Abduljalil Al-Mekhlafi, who is also the foreign Minister of Yemen, to secure and ensure early release of the abducted Indian Priest, Fr. Tom Uzhunnalil. Fr.Uzhunnalil  is in ISIS custody since March 4, 2016, when the terror group attacked an old age home run by Mother Teresa’s Missionaries of Charity in Aden, Yemen.

As per thenewsminute, in a video posted in May on a Yemeni news Portal, Fr. Uzhunnalil said, “My health condition is deteriorating quickly and I require hospitalization as early as possible.”  He also pleaded that, “My dear family people, do what you can to help me be released, Please!”

The Yemen Government has been making all efforts to secure his release and also assured all cooperation from the Yemen authorities in this case.  Sushma Swaraj extended India’s deepest concern in regard to Fr. Uzhunnalil safety and release.
