The Temperance Commission of Kerala Catholic Bishops Council (KCBC) has decided to observe fasting on 3rd April 2018, as a sign of protest against the current liquor policy of the state. The Catholic Churches in Kerala had slammed the state’s liquor policy after the state government notified a Supreme Court order allowing licenses to every local body to open new liquor vends in the areas where the population is above 10,000.

A public convention is also arranged by the Commission in order to make the people aware of the harmful effects of the current liquor policy. The convention will be held at Palarivettam, Kerala, from 10:30 am to 3:30 pm.

His Excellency Bishop Remigiose Inchananiyil, the Chairman of the Temperance Commission, KPCC Former President V M Sudheeran, Justice P K Shamsudeen, will attend the convention.
