Holy Father Pope Francis appointed His Lordship Cardinal Ernest Simoni to consecrate the church of St.Mother Teresa in Pristina, the capital of Kosovo, South-eastern Europe.  His Eminence Cardinal Simoni is a priest of Archdiocese of Shkoder-Pult and is one among the last survivor of communist persecution in Albania.  His Lordship Simoni was ordained a priest during atheistic communist regime and thus had to suffer a lot from the communist leaders who promised him freedom if he distanced himself from Vatican and Pope but Cardinal Simoni and his brother priests refused to do so and thus was detained.

As reported by Catholic News Agency, while being interrogated by the officials, His Eminence Cardinal Simoni stressed that “We will all die for Christ if necessary.” His Lordship was released from detainment after the communist regime fell and Cardinal Simoni was ordained a Cardinal by Pope Francis on November 19, 2016.

The consecration of the cathedral of St.Mother Teresa will take place on September 05, 2017, on the 20th death anniversary of the St.Mother Teresa.
