The Directors of Internet Mission gathered together for a meeting on 26th October, 2018, at Mount St. Thomas, Kakkanad, with an intention to discuss and highlight the significant roles of the Church in her digital mission. His Excellency Mar Sebastian Vaniyapurackal, the Curia Bishop inaugurated the meeting and His Grace Bishop Jose Porunnedom, the Chairman of the Syro-Malabar Commission for Internet Mission, delivered the Presidential address in the meeting.

His Grace Mar Sebastian Vaniyapurackal appreciated the team ‘Internet Mission’ for their fruitful efforts and appropriate actions on various relevant issues of the society. His Excellency Bishop noted that there have been a lot of misuses of technologies and media in today’s world with its increasing development and changes.  Mar Vaniyapurackal also reflected on His Holiness Pope Francis’ words in which the Pontiff had highlighted the significance of Peace Journalism. The Curia Bishop urged the gathering to use the Internet as a weapon and tool to unite people instead of dividing them.

It was in 2006 that the Synod of the Syro-Malabar Church decided to form a team for  the ‘Internet Mission’ in order to enlighten the world about the positive use of the internet. The meeting was held in the presence of Fr. Joby Maprakavil, His Excellency Bishop Jose Porunnedom, Fr. Antony Kollanur and other directors of the Internet Mission.
