The 7th Asian Youth Day, which was held in Yogyakarta, Indonesia from August 2-6 , 2017, has marked an unforgettable and unerasable imprint on the hearts of the young Indian Catholics who had gone to participate in the great day and much awaited event , representing the Indian Catholic Youth. Asian Youth Day 7 was hosted by the Archdiocese of Semarang, with over 2000 young Catholics from 21 Asian countries, with the theme “Joyful Asian Youth: Living The Gospel in Multi-Cultural Asia”. 85 energetic young faithful from different parts of India had participated in the Asian Youth Day and they recall their best part of life spent in Indonesia once again with nostalgic but joyous tears by highlighting their best experiences and earned knowledge that they gained from AYD.

Ms. Jenny Joy, secretary of Indian Catholic Youth Movement (ICYM) remarked that “It was indeed a great experience, we met new people and shared different cultures and ethnicity and the way the Indonesia accepted, welcomed and treated Indians will always be remembered with respect and love.” Further, she continued, “We had put up stalls and had shown different cultural clothes of India that included South Indian clothes, North Indian and all these made an excitement among the young people who came there and we could also learn more about different cultures which introduced us to lots of new friends.”

Asian Youth Day 8, will be hosted by India in 2020 and the young Catholics of India have already made up their hearts to make the best out of this great opportunity to treat their friends with much more respect, love and surprises when they arrive India.
