Fr. Tom Uzhunnalil, Keralite Catholic priest who was released recently after being abducted by Islamic militants 18 months ago, thanked everyone who worked tirelessly and prayed for his rescue from the terrorists, in his first video after being released. Fr. Uzhunnalil reflected that what he went through definitely had a purpose and highlighted that he was happy, strong in mind and soul, though he needed to recuperate.

In the video released, Fr. Tom Uzhunnalil remarked that “I am sure God will put me back to whatever mission he wants and He has a purpose in our life.” Further, the priest added, “What I went through definitely had a purpose and I have received the prayers and love of you all, He has ultimately answered and now I am free.”

Fr. Tom Uzhunnalil said that he was grateful to God and to everybody for their love, concern and prayers. He concluded the video message by exhorting that “God is great. His love is everlasting and his mercy infinite. May God bless each of you and all those involved in making this day possible.”Fr. Tom Uzhunnalil was rescued from captivity in Yemen on 12th September, 2017 and then flown to Vatican for recuperation.
