Vidisha police in Madhya Pradesh arrested ABVP activists when they tried to enter St. Mary’s College to perform a ‘Bharat Mata Aarti’. The arrests were made under preventive sections, according to the district SP. During the court hearing yesterday, the government had promised security to the Diocesan body following which unprecedented security arrangements were made outside all Christian schools and colleges in the district.

As reported by ucanindia.in, Vidisha district SP remarked that “Only a handful of activists numbering around two dozen tried to enter the city but we arrested them as preventive sections were in force following the government’s assurance to the court on Monday.” The ABVP tried to galvanize support for today’s aarti across all colleges in the district but in the end, not many turned up.

The Madhya Pradesh Catholic Diocesan Schools’ Association on Jan 15 moved the Jabalpur High Court seeking protection after ABVP, the student’s body of ruling BJP, started repeatedly attacking Catholic institutions in the state.
