The representatives of Satna Diocese, Madhya Pradesh, met district collector Mr. Mukesh Kumar Shukla and expressed their dissatisfaction in the investigation done by the police department in the recent attack against priests and Christmas carol group in the state. Under the guidance of Satna Bishop His Excellency Mar Joseph Kodakallil, the nuns, priests and other religious, of the diocese were among the representatives.

The demands kept before the district collector by the diocese included – to close the falsely alleged case against the priest, to file a case against the perpetrators who created violence, to take immediate actions against the policemen who didn’t react on this violence even after watching it and to protect the religious freedom.

Mr. Mukhesh Kumar Shukla has ensured his sincere considerations in this case and assured immediate actions once after proper investigations. Around thirty seminarians and few priests of the St. Ephrem’s Theological College, situated at Satna, were detained by the police, while they were conducting a Christmas carol singing programme on 14th December, 2017, in the nearby area, which was a regular practice during the Christmas time.
