An inter-faith meet was organized by Ahimsa Vishwa Bharti, an organization founded by Jain religious leader Lokesh Muni, in Mumbai to discuss on the theme “World Peace and Harmony”, in which Buddhists, Christians, Hindus, Muslims, Jains and Sikhs were present, on August 13, 2017. The Dalai Lama highlighted that every person on earth wants happiness and joy but instead are faced with a multitude of problems, many of which are man-made.

As reported by ucanindia.in, His Excellency Archbishop Felix Machado of Vasai remarked that “The Church must be present at interreligious events in India, and the government should take a note of the mood prevailing at the conference.” Further, His Grace added, “I am asking what could be done to help the government, which certainly wants to go its own way and they have the right to in this democratic country but some of their decisions contradict their own way.”

His Grace Archbishop Felix reminded the significance to build peace while times are peaceful and not to wait for tensions and conflicts and emphasized that ongoing attacks are to terrorize people and keep peace at a distance.
