Catholic Bishops Conference of India, gets a new shepherd from this year. His Eminence Cardinal Oswald Gracias, Archbishop of Bombay, will lead the Bishops of India from now on, as per the new appointments announced by the 33rd General Body meeting of CBCI. On 20th  February 2008, His Eminence Cardinal Gracias was elected 1st Vice President of the Catholic Bishops Conference of India(CBCI) of which had earlier served as Secretary-General.

His Eminence Cardinal was appointed Archbishop of Bombay by Pope Benedict XVI on 14 October 2006 and was raised to the cardinalate in 2007. He is also the President of the Federation of Asian Bishops’ Conference.

The 33rd General Body Meeting of CBCI at St. John’s National Academy of Health Sciences, Bengaluru, will conclude on 9th February, 2018.
