Astana: Athanasius Schneider, a leading theological scholar and assistant bishop of the Astana Archdiocese of Kazakhstan say various governments are putting pressure on the church in the name of coronavirus control. In an interview with LifeSiteNews, Bishop Schneider shared his hope that God would turn this secret church into a tool to purify the global Catholic Church. He said that perhaps we are going through the days of underground churches, but there is no need to be afraid.

“The Catholic Church has many experiences that have had to be transformed into an underground church. In all those cases, God has given many spiritual results for the reformation of the Church. Lockdown restrictions can be found in England, where bishops and bishops should ask the government to give the churches the right to give people the right to shop for food.

It is discriminatory if the temple itself is not given the right to shop. Bishop Schneider said the Catholic Church’s teachings are aimed at reforming the church through the persecution of the state, in an attempt to distort the practice of worship. It will be the divine intervention to revive the church, the days of the underground church. He added that the days of the underground church and church persecution will be decided by God and not by governments.
