Abuja: Christians in Nigeria face severe discrimination in emergency aid, including food distribution, during the Covid 19 outbreak, a leading international religious freedom watchdog organization has said. Nigerian Christians have revealed that they receive only one-sixth of their food ration and that they have forgotten religious minority Christians to help others.

Joe Newhouse, a spokesman for Open Doors, said that this part of Africa is on the brink of an epidemic, and the economic impact of the attacks on Christians during the lockdown, and the marginalization of Christians, are worrisome to religious minority Christians. He said Christians have had to face up to allegations that the corona was caused by Christians.

Al-Shabaab, an Islamic extremist group, is spreading the message among Muslims that Christians and other Gentile nations in Somalia are the cause of the corona spread. There have also been reports that the Muslim communal organization in Uganda blames Chinese Christians for claiming that it was the wrath of Allah that caused the burning of the Quran. Joe Newhouse said all of this was highly condemned. It has previously been reported that Christians in Nigeria, where Boko Haram and other Islamic extremist groups stand, are severely discriminated against.
