Holy Father Pope Francis conveyed his immense joy and gratitude to the people who helped to make his Apostolic visit to Colombia possible, in the General Audience meet. His Holiness reflected one of the most striking things on his visit was that when many fathers and mothers brought their children to see the Pope and to be blessed by him. Holy Father Pope Francis noted that his visit was in continuity with those of the two previous Popes who had travelled to Colombia.

As reported by Vatican radio, Holy Father Pope Francis remarked that “The process of reconciliation in Colombia, after a half century of internal conflict, has now begun and with my visit I wanted to bless the effort of that people, to confirm them in faith and in hope and to receive their testimony, which is a richness for my ministry and for the whole Church.”  Further, His Holiness added, “It is clear that the evil one wanted to divide the people to destroy the work of God, but is equally evident that the love of Christ, His infinite mercy, is stronger than sin and death.”

His Holiness concluded the general audience by dedicating Colombia to Our Lady of Chiquinquira, the Patron of Colombia.
