Kochi: The Syro-Malabar Church Alumni Forum leaders demanded that the Chief Minister should take over the Minority Welfare Department in Kerala. The organization pointed out that the Minority Department, which adopts an unjust policy in the formulation, implementation and distribution of minority welfare schemes, is neglecting the Christian community.

Discrimination in the distribution of funds by the Department for the Fair Disbursement of Funds Allowed by the Central Government for the upliftment of religious minorities eliminates equality of opportunity for Christian communities. The discrimination that began in the granting of scholarships must be opposed as it continues in the distribution of other minority welfare schemes.
