Lesbos: Hungary will provide financial assistance to rebuild Christian churches that have been destroyed by refugees on Lesbos Island in Greece over the past few months. Hungary’s Secretary of State for the Persecuted Christian Community, Tristan Aszbേജge, has announced that he will provide thirty thousand dollars to help rebuild the shrines. Tristan Ausbaugh tweeted on Twitter that the aid is part of the Hungarian Helps Program.

He expressed confidence that Hungary’s efforts to preserve its Christian heritage and prevent the influx of refugees could bring international attention. Images of the refugee demolition of the shrine in the name of Saint Raphael, located on Lesbos Island, were circulated on social media in March. Refugees’ travel through Europe has been provoked by the government’s move.

Refugees in the Moria camp on the island were attacked by St Catherine’s Church the following day. Refugees distorted images inside the shrine. In addition, many Western heritage sites have been destroyed by the island’s refugees. In April, about 5,000 olive trees on the island were cut down by refugees. Many have described it as an attack on the Greek heritage and culture. From the outset, the accusations that refugees are coming to Lesbos with the intention of emigrating to Europe are treated like occupiers.
