Faridabad: The clergy of the Faridabad diocese are notable for their role in the Covid-19 pestilence. The clergy, most aware of this situation, have volunteered to waive a one-month allowance during this lockdown, as many parishes in the diocese are struggling financially for their monthly needs, such as monthly water, electricity, and staff salaries. Archbishop Kuriakose Pardikulangara said that the decision of the clergy to respond positively to the financial difficulties of the parish and the ministry of the parish, in general, was commendable. It is a church-wide “salary challenge,” he added.

Established in 2012, the diocese has grown to its present status and has contributed a lot of annual donations/donations from the parishioners of the diocese. With this “Salary Challenge” of the clergy, Archbishop Palikulangara said that every parish would announce a substantial concession to the diocesan fees paid to the diocese. While parishes in Kerala have the right to rent, and church income, parishioners in diaspora operate only with the generous donations of the faith community.

Most parishes are struggling for even essential expenses because there are no Sundays. In this case, the Archbishop has announced a 50% reduction in the amount each parish must deliver to the diocese. Archbishop Kuriakose Bharani Kulangara has made a very realistic announcement in the wake of the Lockdown, Diocesan Pastoral Council Secretary PJ Thomas said. He added that the diocese leadership and clergy are now discussing among the believers in the event of a change in the circumstances of the people and the parish.

PRO Rev. Fr. Ginto K Tom said, Various philanthropic projects are also being conducted by parishioners and parishioners in many parishes of the diocese during Lockdown. Through video conferences, the Archbishop coordinates the administrative affairs of the diocese with various sections of the diocese because of their social distance.
