Thamarassery: Thamarassery Bishop Mar Remigios Inchanani has been included in a case registered against a group of protesters who staged a protest in front of the Thamarassery Forest Range office against the revocation of a gun license for a farmer who had legally shot a wild boar in Kodancherry. Bishop is the last of the 13 defendants in the case. On June 30, the Kozhikode Farmers’ Coalition held a march and protest against the Forest Department’s decision to remove George Joseph Idappattukavungal, a native of Kodancherry Grama Panchayat, from the empaneled list, who had for the first time implemented the government’s permission to shoot wild boar destroying agricultural crops.

After the protest in front of the Forest Department office, Forest Range Officer P. Sudhir Neroth came to the Bishop’s office to submit a petition. George Joseph filed a petition with the Range Forest Officer seeking the revocation of the permit and returned after speaking to reporters outside the Bishop’s Office gate. The bishop did not attend the protest.
