New Delhi: Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday said that Christ has been trying to govern the country for the past five years. Kejriwal, one of the most popular leaders in India, made this statement during a New Year’s Eve Christmas reception hosted by Delhi Assembly Speaker Ram Niwas Goyal. He said that the government had started mohalla clinics that provided free medical treatment to the poor and needy, like Jesus who served the poor and the needy, and sought to educate the poor. He added that forgiveness is the greatest message that Jesus taught.

Archbishop of Delhi Anil Kutko, Methodist Church of India Bishop Subodh Mondal, Church of North India Delhi Diocese Rep. Waris K Masih, Delhi Assembly Deputy Speaker Rakhi Birla and representatives from various denominations participated in the function. Earlier, when RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat and his supporters came out with criticism against Mother Teresa, Arvind Kejriwal was the leader who replied in strong language.
