Charity World Trust’s Jimmy Patanam Center for Special Needs is a three-year (2020-2023) special karma project for disabled children and their families suffering from the Covid crisis. 20 goals of Action Plans have been formulated for the sustainable development of the social, economic and health sectors of such families. The project, which is centered around the gymnasium center, will begin today on International Autistic Pride Day and be completed on December 3, 2023, the International Diversity Day. Archbishop of Changanacherry, Mar Joseph Perunthottam will inaugurate the project today afternoon.

The Rainbow Care project has already begun covering 1000 families of disabled persons in Kottayam, Alappuzha and Pathanamthitta districts. The families involved in Rainbow Care are initially included in various welfare schemes. Distribution of Nutrition Kits for entire families will begin today. Dialysis kits for families with rainbow care, a one-time fundraiser for cancer patients, a monthly assistance scheme for bedridden patients, and a starvation-free home with the goal of eliminating hunger in families of people with disabilities.

The Mobile Therapy Unit and the Integrated Therapy Center, which integrates various therapies at the Jimmy Patanam Center, and the Brain Development Center, which operates on Saturdays and Holidays, will continue to operate with the goal of providing differential home therapy for the disabled. The ‘Home for Teachers’ program, which will provide comprehensive training to one person from all families, will be implemented in entire families within two years with the objective of training the differently abled at home.

The first full-fledged YouTube channel and online radio will be ready for completion in the fractional space. The JPC Special Needs Research Center will be launched this year as part of a project to support educators, social workers, researchers and non-specialists in the field of mental health.

Core Committee, Steering Committee, Advisory Council and General Body have been constituted for the successful implementation of the project, including specialists in the fraternity, representatives of special schools, social workers, collaborators and representatives of differently abled families. Fr. Sebastian Punnassery, Fr. Jose Nalanthara, Dr. George Patantilalam and others attended the press conference.
