Kakkanad: The Syro-Malabar Church’s stand on the Civil Rights Amendment in favor of the Sangh Parivar and its demand for a comprehensive investigation into the social jihad of Jihad, are the manifestations of dangerous ideologies. The Public Affairs Commission of the Synod of the Syro-Malabar Church called on the public and the public to be vigilant. The position of the Syro-Malabar Church on these issues was made clear in the statements of the Syro Malabar Media Commission and the Post-Independent Circular issued during the first session of the 28th Synod of the Syro-Malabar Church which ended on January 15th.

The Church’s position on the Citizenship Amendment Act was formulated after a detailed discussion of the Citizenship Amendment Act at the Synod. Talapparayunna things Synod asked the central government: The government should come forward to solve the current concerns in the country in connection with the exercise of the Citizenship Amendment Act, to make sure that it protects the tilth of the Constitution of India, the sacred, the secular suspicion of the Constitution, the basic value of this curbed the Let stand stiyil. As there is no room for return, the government should be ready to accept and grant citizenship to existing refugees in the country, and consider the cultural heritage of the North Eastern States when resettling the newly granted citizenship. The move to separate some refugees on religious grounds and deny them citizenship and permanently reside in refugee camps should be reexamined. It is the responsibility of the State to make every citizen aware that it is secular and equitable. Major Archbishop Cardinal Mar George Alenchery has written to the Prime Minister addressing these demands at the decision of the Synod.

The Commission is of the view that the Syro-Malabar Church, despite its clear stance, is in favor of the Citizenship Amendment Act. The members of the church have the necessary awareness to understand the underlying motives of those who criticize the church in spite of this. KCBC Spokesman and POC Fr. Varghese Vallikattu posted his personal opinion on Facebook regarding the Citizenship Amendment Act. Only a fraction of it is without his knowledge or consent, Janmabhoomi newspaper KCBC. Fr. Vallikattu himself has made that clear.

Some media and vested interests are trying to mislead the Vallikattu article and the stand taken by the Syro-Malabar Church Synod on Love Jihad. The Syro-Malabar Church is also seen as a fraternity in the eyes of the believers of Islam, who are living the truths of their religion in sincerity and practicing good and mercy in society. The Synod expressed concern over the love jihad in light of discussions reported from various parishes and parishes.

The BJP has come to meet the citizenship law notice. The interpretation that the Syro-Malabar Church Sangh Parivar has expressed in favor of Cardinal Mar George Alancheri taking notice of the leaders is similar to questioning the mutual respect and common manners prevalent in the country today. The Syro-Malabar Church has a clear understanding of the anti-Christian practices of the Sangh Parivar organizations and the ongoing Christian persecution in various parts of India.

The Commission specifically states that the respected Muslim leaders or organizations of Kerala do not doubt the purity of the Church in this regard. The extremist character of certain sects has been denied by the most prominent Islamic religious leaders. The Commission assessed that the Syro-Malabar Church is a community which stands for the common good and religion, and that the Church has a vibrant and inclusive style and that the enlightened Kerala community is aware of it.

In January 2020, the Synod of the Syro-Malabar Public Affairs Commission was constituted by the Synod to oversee the public affairs of the Syro-Malabar Church and take necessary steps. Bishop Thomas Chakyat, Bishop Remegios Ingenaniil, Bishop Joseph Pamplani and Bishop Thomas Tharayil are members of the Commission headed by the Archbishop of Thrissur, Mar Andrews, and the Syro Malabar PRO. Fr. Abraham is also the secretary at the Cavalipuram.
