Thiruvananthapuram: Believers around the globe celebrated the silver of sorrow with renewed remembrance of the sufferings of Jesus. Prayers and services were held in the mosques, in the wake of the lockdown, to the exclusion of believers altogether. The rituals were restrictive, as was observed on the Sunday and Passover Thursdays. At the same time, the believers prayed and participated in the rituals led by the bishops and clergy in their homes, through the Cross and Mercy Tent. Ministries are live-streamed via Facebook and YouTube. Cardinal Mar George Alencherry presided over the service which began at 9.30 am at Mount St. Thomas, Kakkanad. Mourning services of Malankara Catholic Church will begin at 11 am and conclude at 2 pm.
