The Archdiocese of Thalassery has taken legal action against those who, through Youtube Channel and Facebook pages, made false and derogatory statements against Mar Joseph Pamplani and the priests of the diocese. The complaints filed under the cyber cell and the Kannur police chief have been filed against Paul Ambatt, Jobson Jose, and the online media – Nasrani. The archdiocese reports that the video in question was made up of indecent conversations and baseless allegations aimed at personal defamation.

It is clear that this video is the result of a conspiracy by some communal organizations and anti-church movements aimed at creating tension among believers. In its complaint, the Archdiocese has called for action to expose the conspiracy behind the ongoing cyber-attacks against the Archdiocese and to ensure that such attacks are not repeated in order to exemplify criminals.

Police have initiated proceedings in the case registered as Crime No. 1010/2020. The Archbishop has lodged a complaint with the Kerala Chief Minister and DGP. Paul Armbatt is alleged to have linked the woman with a police complaint to Crime Stoppers Nos. 331 and 327 at Potiyanmala police station.

As a Media Commission Chairman of the KCBC and the Syro-Malabar Church, the bold stand was taken by Bishop Pamplani and his media interventions have caused resentment in some anti-church groups. The diocese says that the church has realized that some people have come up with baseless allegations of self-immolation.
