SINGAPORE – Catholics in Singapore are holding Vibhuti Thirunal homes even after the centuries-long Lenten ministry has been suspended following the coronation scandal. Although the government has not forbidden religious worship in Singapore in the wake of the coronation, Archbishop William Goeh has said that public worship has been stopped indefinitely for the safety of the faithful. But the devotees joined the Vibhuti broadcasts which aired on the channels. Believers started by fasting on their foreheads with ashes online, along with recorded eulogies.

The Archdiocese has already informed the believers that the Holy Eucharist is to be canceled for an indefinite period from February 15. There are nearly 300,000 Catholics in Singapore City, with a population of 57 million. The decision has really affected a society of faith zealots who have no compromise on their faith. Mon, the Rector of the Catholic Cathedral of Singapore, spoke of a young woman crying after she heard the Holy Mass was canceled. Philip Heng said this testimony was once again confirmed. South Korea, which has about 58 lakh Catholics, has canceled the Holy Mass from February 26 to March 10. Believers wore masks in some of the dioceses of the Philippines, participating in the rituals.
