Lahore: The bishop of Lahore, His Excellency Bishop Sebastian Shaw urges for peace between India and Pakistan. Recently to an audience, he declared that on a global note, if all the world leaders stay united, the need for nuclear weapons will not arise. He delivered these ideas at the Saint Mary’s Church where the 800th anniversary of St. Francis Assisi acquainting the Egyptian Sultan, Mallik Al Kamaal. He requested the countries to keep apart the talks of Kashmir and instead find new ways to reinstate peace between the two neighboring countries.
He further plead with the Indian Prime minister Narendra Modi and Pakistani Prime minister, Imran Khan to create an opportunity for discussion and how to create peace and harmony among humankind.
Before entering the church, the priests and the laity, light candles as a symbolism of a promise of renewable peace. The gathering of Archbishop Sebastian Shah and the laity was inspired by the Pope’s meeting with the Al Azhar University Imam, Ahmed Al Tayab in February at Abu Dhabi which also intended to rejuvenated the bonds built by St. Francis Assisi and the then Egyptian Sultan.
