Kozhikode: St. Joseph’s College manager and former principal of Devegiri Fr. Joseph Paikata CMI died. He was eighty-three years old. He died of a heart attack at 8.10 pm on 21 December 2019, night. The public will be present at St. Joseph’s Monastery, Devagiri from 6 pm onwards. Former Chief Editor of Deepika Fr. Alexander Paikata is the CMI’s brother.

Born on August 30, 1936, in Paikada in Pala Edamar to Joseph Mariam, Fr. Joseph Paikata accepted his first vow in 1957. In 1963 he became clergyman at the CMI Monastery. From 1970 to April 1, 1982, to March 31, 1989, he served as the principal of Devagiri College. From 1989 to 2011, CMI served on the Jammu and Kashmir mission of the church.

He was instrumental in the journey of Deogiri College. Joseph focused on maintaining good relationships with students. He was a Senate member of Calicut University. The funeral will take place on Sunday afternoon at 2 pm at St. Joseph’s Ashram Cemetery, Devagiri.
