His Eminence Cardinal Cormac Murphy O’Connor, retired Bishop and Cardinal of the Roman Catholic Church, Archbishop Emeritus of Westminster and former President of the Catholics Bishops’ Conference of England and Wales, has been seriously ill and is taken to the hospital. His Lordship Cardinal Murphy-O’Connor has served as Bishop of Arundel and Brighton for nearly 23 years before being appointed as the Archbishop of Westminster in 2000.

As reported by catholicherald.co.uk, His Eminence Cardinal Vincent Nichols, 11th Archbishop of Westminster, remarked that “These loving prayers are a source of great strength and comfort as he calmly ponders on all that lies ahead, all in God’s good time.” Further, His Lordship added, “May the Lord strengthens him in faith and trust and may the prayers of the Church, which he loves so much, comfort and uphold him.”

His Eminence Cardinal Nichols has sent a letter to all the Bishops asking for prayers for the seriously ill Cardinal Cormac Murphy-O’Connor.
