His Eminence Cardinal Daniel DiNardo of Galveston-Houston while discussing with his fellow U.S.Bishops on the upcoming synod conveyed that young people are not a singular mass and ministry to them must reflect their diversity. His Lordship Cardinal DiNardo, who is the president of the U.S. Catholic Bishops, also underscored the significant roles of young faithful in building up the church and its mission.
As reported by catholicnewsagency.com, His Lordship Cardinal DiNardo remarked that “What we learned and what was reinforced was that the youth, people ages 16-29 is comprised of several different groups, including high school youth, college students and young adults of diverse ethnic groups and cultures and thus ministry with these age groups are unique and should not be lumped together.” Further, His Lordship added, “Young people want to be listened to amid their struggles and they want to be invited to lead and are also seeking mentorship and spiritual direction, looking for support in time of transition.”
His Lordship Cardinal DiNardo concluded saying that “We can be hopeful this synod will be much fruit and that the feedback from American youth will be of help to the Holy See. His Eminence Cardinal also highlighted that the message of the unique ministry that can be led by the youth should be brought to Rome for the Synod on Young People, the Faith and Vocational Discernment next year.
