‘Western Region Social and Pastoral Communication Live-in’ held on February 20, 2018, focused and reflected upon the message of Holy Father Pope Francis regarding the World Communication Day 2018. This is the first meeting of WR Social and Pastoral Communication, held after 2012, which brought the enthusiastic group of different dioceses together. The agenda of the meeting was to focus on the challenges and opportunities on the field of pastoral communication faced by the Catholic Dioceses.

12 Diocesan Directors of the Western Region Social and Pastoral Communication attended the meeting. In the meeting, Fr. Nigel took a session on the Digital Civics and enlightened the audience about the beginning of the Church communication and explained the need and significance to continue the mission in today’s world. The meeting urged the participants to seek the truth in the field of pastoral communication and he exhorted the participants to be a myth buster, a truth seeker and a Good News communicator.

The participants decided that Western Region must have a common strategy to continue forward with its mission and called for an action plan upon Pope’s message for the year. There will be a training for the directors on Cybercrimes, to make them alert about this malignant evil, in July 2018. The directors elected Fr. Nigel Barret, Archdiocese of Bombay as the secretary of WR Pastoral and Social communication office. The panel decided to organize the meeting once in every year.  The Western Region Social and Pastoral Communication Live-in’ was held at Sarvadoya Centre for Capacity Building, St. Pius X College Complex (Archdiocesan Seminary), Goregaon (East), under the guidance of His Excellency Bishop Barthol Barretto, the Chairman of Western Region Social and Pastoral Communication.
