Thrissur: The Cochin Bench of the National Company Law Tribunal today announced the reinstatement of Thrissur Archbishop Mar Andrews Thakath as the Chairman of Jeevan TV and Mar Jacob Thoonguzhi, the founding Director of the Board of Directors. The court ruled that those appointed after September 2012 cannot continue to be members of the board of directors. Joseph Chilambunnel Mathew, Gopalapillai Harikumar, Mannatazhayathu Jayashankar, Jayakumar Madhavan Pillai Saraswathi Amma, Jose Moolail Cherian, Biju George, Jose Joseph, Thulasidharan Nair Bhaskaran, Amanullah Hidayatulla, Prof. Thomas Karunan Thampi has lost its board of directors.

Apart from the Archbishops, Dinesh Nambiar, NS. Jose, P.J. Antony may continue as a member of the Board of Directors. The court reinstated the company secretary and the auditor, which existed until September 29, 2012. The verdict came after an eight-year legal battle. All board meetings of Jeevan TV from September 29, 2012 were canceled. Shareholders will be retained as of March 31, 2012. Subsequent transactions were canceled.

The tribunal also demanded that the central government investigate the issue of Baby Mathew Somathiram’s stake in violation of the rules of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. The court declared the board meetings on October 11 and 23, 2012, and the extraordinary public meeting of November 12, 2012, illegal and invalid. The decisions and resolutions passed at these meetings were invalid. The court also suggested that the existing managers be given an opportunity to sell their shares.

In 1999, Jeevan Telecasting Corporation was formed by Archbishop Mar Jacob Thonguzhi as its Chairman. The capital was the stock of about 10,000 individuals and the amount collected by the Archdiocese of Thrissur and other dioceses and Christian communities. Later, Jeevan accepted the deposit of a few who promised to stick to the goals of TV. Some of them deviated from the TV’s stated aim of life as a family channel and convened a special board meeting and extraordinary general body to sack archbishops. These proceedings were canceled by the court. Deepika
