His Lordship Cardinal Jorge Urosa of Caracas has warned Nicolas Maduro, president of Venezuela over deaths of protestors in the country who opposed the existing regime and His Eminence reminded the president that the high command of the armed forces will be accountable to God for the deaths of the protestors killed by military personnel during demonstrations against the country’s undisciplined Constituent Assembly.

As reported by Catholic News Agency, His Eminence Cardinal Jorge remarked that “In the name of God, stop the repression! There are citizens who were murdered and wounded by Venezuelan military personnel and, presumably, by armed forces that act illegally and criminally and this is totally intolerable and cries out to heaven.”

The citizens in the country faces high inflation and shortage of necessities like food, housing, and medical supplies, following dropping oil prices in recent years and hence the bishops in the country have asked the people to pray that, “The people of Venezuela be identified with the respect for the human person, liberty, justice and a commitment to the common good.”
