Vatican City: After two and a half months, believers are back in St. Peter’s Square in the Vatican following the Coronavirus pandemic. On Sunday, the fifth anniversary of Pope Francis’ encyclopedia Laudato Si (Praise be to You), many people came to the Vatican Square to hear the Holy Father’s sermon and to receive his blessing. The devotees arrived in great cheer, wearing masks. Believers greeted the pope’s hand with a greeting.

Vatican Square and St. Peter’s Basilica, which was closed following the lockdown, reopened on Monday. The pope’s lecture in his library online was viewed on large screens by people in St Peter’s Square.

The pope urged believers to think about how to protect the environment for the next twelve months and to help those who are most vulnerable to climate change. After the sermon, the pope came to the window and blessed the believing community. In the past, the pope has come to the window and blessed St. Peter’s Square, even though it was empty without believers.
