Pathanamthitta: Bishop Samuel Mar Irenaeus has called on the world to move towards simplicity and freedom from the clutches of mob and corruption. Mar Irenaeus was delivering the message on the occasion of the Feast of the first saint of India, at Bharananganam where the tomb of St. Alphonsa is located. “Heaven wants to celebrate the festival in this manner, this year,” he added.

The feast of Alphonsa, who embraced the lifestyle of simplicity and heroized ordinary experiences, will open an innovative path of spirituality to the world. The world must move towards the style of simplicity, free from the grip of mob and deceit. In his message, Bishop Mar Irenaeus said that the Feast should not only be about visiting the grave but also an attempt to learn about the life of Alphonsa in our homes where we are and make a pilgrimage to our own lives and make corrections.

Rector of the Pilgrimage Center Fr. Joseph Vallampurayidam, Mon. Joseph Maleparambil and the priests of the pilgrimage center were present during the flag hoisting, at Bharananganam in the Pala Diocese on the 19th.

Mass will be held today at 5.30 am, 7.30 am, 11 am, 3 pm and 6 pm. In the wake of the COVID 19 epidemic, arrangements have been made for believers to visit Alphonsa’s grave and pay homage to the relics, following the legal security measures put in place by the government. The entire Festal services and celebrations are available online.
