Kettering: The Great Britain Syro-Malabar Diocese and the Malayalee community said goodbye to Rev. Fr. Wilson Kattatil yesterday. His body was brought to St. Edward’s Temple where he served. Diocesan President Mar Joseph Srampikal will officiate at the event. The clergy who work in the diocese of Great Britain and representatives from various places will join in the funeral services.
Fifty-one-year-old Fr. Wilson has been serving as a priest of the Kettering St Edward’s Church in the Diocese of Northampton and as the Director of St. Faustina’s mission to the Diocese of Great Britain. He was a native of Ayrkunnam in the Archdiocese of Changanassery and was a member of the parish of Arumanoor and a member of the MSFS monastery.
Fr. Wilson was born in 1968 as the 13th of 16 children of the Kottam family in the parish of Erumanoor near Ettumanoor. He joined the MSFS Seminary in Ettumanoor in 1985. He was ordained to the priesthood in 1997 and later obtained a doctorate in communication from Calicut University. After condoning the priesthood, he served in various places through a variety of clergy like the Head of Communication Department at St. Joseph’s Media Village, Changanassery, Rector of MSFS Seminary in Aluva and Principal of MSFS College, Bangalore.
He was appointed Principal of MSFS College, Bangalore, where he was appointed to the care of the Latin and Syro-Malabar Diocese of Northampton in the UK. For the past three years, he has been serving at St. Edward’s Church in Kettering and the St. Faustina SyroMalabar Mission. The funeral services will be held at 10 o’clock.
After the rituals and commemorative prayers in the UK, his body will be taken home for burial.
