Thiruvananthapuram: The state government has decided to open places of worship in Kerala from Monday (08/06/2020), Chief Secretary Vishwas Mehta said. He said this in an interview with a private Malayalam channel. At the same time, it will restrict the number of believers who will be allowed access simultaneously. Celebrations such as festivals will also be restricted. The state’s recommendations on this will be submitted to the Center soon. He said that the people should control themselves and society is confident that the places of worship will be opened to prevent the spread of disease.

After a high-level review meeting held on Tuesday, Communications Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said at a press conference that the decision would be taken as per the Union directive on May 8. This is followed by the statement of the Chief Secretary. At the same time, there are concerns that the government will reverse its decision in the face of an increasing number of COVID patients.
