Kottayam: The Catholic Church and Malankara Orthodox Church have decided to jointly formulate lessons for the higher classes in religious studies. The decision was taken at a meeting held at Mar Baselios Dayarai, Naliyakuzhi, Kottayam, by the Joint Theological Discussion Committee formed by representatives of the Catholic Church and the Malankara Orthodox Church. Christ has arrived at the council in recent years and is preparing the lessons in accordance with the conceptions already made concerning the sharing of certain sacraments in accordance with the general norms and rules of knowledge and the sharing of churches and cemeteries.

It has been decided to provide guidance to other church members to provide needed care services in educational and vocational care centers and to plan cooperation between the seminaries of both churches. These will also be sent to all centers as soon as they get approval from church centers. Readings of the Faith Studies of the Church Fathers will be prepared and published every day of the year. In addition, the general sources for ecclesiastical study are outlined.

D.D. Reji Mathew presented the dissertation. Bishop Dr. Brian Farrell, Dr. Euhanon Mar Demetrios presided over the function. Representing the Catholic Church were Archbishop Mathew Moolakkat, Archbishop Thomas Mar Coorilos, and Bishop Dr. Selvister Ponnumuthanan, Bishop Mar Joseph Kallarangadu, Revd. Xavier Koodapuzha, Revd. Mathew Wellanickal, Revd. Rev. Jacob Thekkarempil, Rev.D. Philip Nelpuraparampil, Revd. Dr. Hiyasin Destiwella represented the Orthodox Church. Dr. Yuhanon Mar Dioscoros, Metropolitan Eugenon Mar Chrysostamos Metropolitan, Dr. Joseph Mar Dionysius Metropolitan, Dr. Yakub Mar Irenaeus Metropolitan, Fr. Baby Varghese, Fr. Jones Abraham Connaught, Rev. Do. JOSE JOHN, Rev.D. Josie Jacob, Revd. Abraham Thomas, Revd. Reggie Varghese, Revd. Felix John, Revd. Koshy Vaidyan was also present.
