Lima: The bishops of Peru have called for the preservation of life from threats and dangers, from conception to natural death. The Peru Bishops’ Committee issued a statement on May 4, calling for the preservation of life in the face of the increasing number of victims of Covid-19. The statement specifically states that God-given life for the benefit of the individual and society should be protected from the moment of conception to natural death.

Officials and health officials in the country must respect the measures to be taken to protect the COVID 19 pandemic which affects everyone. We need to take on our responsibilities and seek a new way of living together to help save our lives and the lives of others, even if today’s emergency is a disaster. The elderly, the sick, the poor, the marginalized, the migrants, those who live on the streets, and those who do not come to the forefront of society.

The statement also commemorates those who lost their jobs, day laborers, and inmates who could not defend themselves because of congestion in prison. The committee also thanked the diocese, parishioners, monasteries, volunteers, and the government for their support.
