New Delhi: Evangelical Fellowship of India’s (EFI) Religious Liberty Commission (RLC) says there have been 10 incidents of violence against Christians in India over the past three days. The RLC recorded ten incidents of violence, including obstruction of worship, police intimidation, and mob violence in a short span of February 20-24. It is a fact that the attacks came amid reports that US President Donald Trump will be meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on India’s freedom of religion during his visit to India.

Vijayesh Lal, National Director of RLC, said that such attacks are frequent during the weekend and especially on Sundays. He urged the prime minister and the home minister to take action against this. Uttar Pradesh has witnessed five incidents of 10 incidents of violence. Two each were reported from Tamil Nadu, one each from Telangana, Rajasthan, and Chhattisgarh.

A Christian family living in Chhattisgarh’s Dantewada district was brutally assaulted on February 20. The next day, Christians in Sant Kabir Nagar in Uttar Pradesh were threatened. He complained to the police but was advised to renounce his Christian faith. Seven pastors of Sathankulam town in Tamil Nadu’s Thoothukudi district have been illegally detained by police.
