The Archbishop of Taipei hosted a special celebration marking the 75th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between Taiwan and the Vatican, which was organized jointly by the Apostolic Nunciature, the Chinese Regional Episcopal Conference (Taiwan Bishops) and the Fu Jen Catholic University and was held at the Archdiocesan auditorium.

Three reports were presented at the event, the first report by Sr. Beatrice Leung, professor and researcher at Wenzhao Foreign Language College in Kaohsiung and Fr. Jac Kuepers, Vice President for the mission of the new hospital of the ‘Fu Jen University’ who reviewed the current statistics on Catholic activity in Taiwan in relation to poverty, underlining how engagement in the gathering of economic and moral resources abroad and on island has led to substantial improvements and real relief for those in situations of indigence.

Those attended the event were greeted by Msgr. Sladan Cosic Charge d’Affaires of the Apostolic Nuncio, Taipei’s Archbishop His Grace John Shan-Chuan Hung, who is also the president of the Bishops’ Conference, Ms. Ann Kao, General Director of the Department of Foreign Affairs for Relations with Europe and Dr. Vincent Han-Sun Chiang, president of the Catholic University Fu Jen.
