The Syro Malabar Church Synod highlights the significance of unity that should be maintained in order to help the farmers and other agricultural workers. The Synod discussed various problems faced by the farmers, including the increasing suicidal rates in farmers, animal attacks on them, the imbalanced lifestyle of farmers, ignorance of authority. The Synod emphasized that the wild animals destroy the farm and fields of the farmers, which gives them a high threat against life and livelihood. The Church also focused on the importance of finding out solutions for such harmful problems faced by the farmers.

The Synod also reflected on the decreasing rates of religious vocation among women and highlighted that this may affect the growth of the church. The Synod also exhorted a scientific team to be made to study on this reduced religious vocations. The Church also discussed their improved possibilities opened in the country to proclaim the word of God and for complete evangelization.

His Eminence Cardinal Mar George Alencherry, Major Archbishop of Syro-Malabar Church, inaugurated the Synod by lighting the lamp, on 9th January,2018. This is the 26th Synod of the Syro-Malabar Church.
