His Eminence Cardinal Mar Baselios Cleemis, CBCI President and Major Archbishop of Syro-Malankara Church, while addressing the faithful gathered at Mount Kakkanad, Kerala, for the silver-jubilee celebration of ‘Major Archiepiscopal’ status of the Syro-Malabar Church, conveyed the significance of communion in the Church. His Beatitude Cardinal Cleemis highlighted that the apostolic traditions of the St. Thomas Church is of great importance and reflected on various significant contributions of the Syro-Malabar Church and congratulated all the people of God, who fought for the autonomy and who remained in communion for the Church.

Mar Baselios Cleemis remarked that “ It gives us great joy to be in communion to this ancient apostolic Church as we celebrate a moment of God’s grace, not only for the last 25 years but for the last 2000 years. We are celebrating a proclamation to the part of the Holy See, realizing the significance of this apostolic Church, thereby conferring the lost, forgotten faithful.” Further, His Grace Mar Cleemis added, “Our motto is to continue in great communion. Communion deeply rooted within and with other Churches. The Syro-Malabar Church has to go miles and miles, giving string inspiration to the millions of Christian faithful in the whole world. Apostolicity of not merely an adjective or an ornament but it is the constitutive element of a dignified, ecclesial community that we have.”

His Eminence Cardinal Cleemis concluded his remarks by congratulating the Catholic Community all over the world for remaining in communion to the Holy See in Rome and he also thanked the whole hierarchy for the great assistance for the survival of the Major Archiepiscopal Church.
