New York: An active parishioner is known to be a spiritually active leader and has strong spiritual leadership, according to the study. A report released last week by the Foundation and Donors’ Interstate in Catholic Activities (FADICA) describes the common characteristics of active parishioners. Reported in ‘Open Wide Doors to Christ: A Study of Catholic Social Innovation for Parish Vitality’.

The characteristics shared by the great parishes are characterized by strong aloof leadership, a balance of God’s Word, worship, and serviceable parish life. Researchers Marty Jewell and Mark Mogilka describe eight common characteristics found inactive and active parishes. Features include freshness, excellent clergy, active leadership organizations, holiness, remarkable vision, priority for Sunday rituals and events, nurturing spiritual growth and maturity, dedication to service, and use of online services.

The attractive website, the missionaries trained to welcome the Holy Communion, the hospitality and the care of the newcomers are the special features of the active parishioners, the report said. The information for the report was gathered through interviews, websites, and books with more than sixty-five pagan leaders across the United States.
