Kerala Ruby Jubilee celebrations of the Kerala Catholic Youth Movement (KCYM), the official Youth Movement of Kerala Catholic Church, was inaugurated on 29th December, 2017, by His Eminence Cardinal Mar Baselios Cleemis, Major Archbishop of the Malankara Catholic Church. The inauguration was held at Mar Baselios College auditorium, Nalanchira. His Lordship Cardinal Cleemis even expressed his disappointments to the government in not inviting Holy Father Pope Francis to India and highlighted Pope’s visit to Asian countries – Myanmar and Bangladesh.

As reported by pravachakasabdam.com, His Eminence Cardinal Cleemis remarked that “This period of time is challenging the young people to become His true missionaries and evangelizers. The Pontifical Council of India had requested the government of India to invite Pope Francis to our country. The Muslim majority nation- Bangladesh and Buddhist majority nation- Myanmar invited Pope Francis to visit their countries. But the government of India failed to do so.”

Representatives from 27 dioceses will be participating in this 3-day assembly. Neyyattinkara Bishop His Excellency Dr. Vincent Samuel, KS Sabarinathan MLA, Bethany Navjeevan Provincial Superior Fr. Geevarghese Kuttiyil, KCYM State Assistant Director Sister Sumam SD, KCYM Major Archdiocese of Thiruvananthapuram director Fr. Varghese Kizhakkeakara,, KCYM former President Shijo Mathew, ICYM President Sijo Ambatt, KCYM Major Archbishop of Pathanamthitta, Kishore, KCYM, Archdiocese of Thiruvananthapuram President Bibin Chembakara, addressed the gathering.
