St. Ephrem’s Theological College in Satna will mark its 25 years of existence with well-arranged lists of programmes, going to be held on October 3-4, 2017. On October 3, the programmes will start when the newly ordained priests of last academic year celebrate the Holy Mass and all the alumni will take part in the Jubilee Family gathering on the same day. His Eminence Cardinal George Alencherry, the Major Archbishop of the Syro-Malabar Church, is expected to preside over the Eucharistic Celebration on October 4, 2017.

The Theological Seminary was started as a Mission Major Seminary by His Excellency Bishop Mar Abraham D. Mattam of Satna in 1992 and was taken over by the Synod of the Church in 2014 and became the official Mission Seminary of the Church. The present Rector of St. Ephrem’s Theological College is Rev. Dr. Joseph Ottapurackal, a priest of the diocese of Satna.

So far 299 priests have been ordained from the 22 batches of theology students and this year there are 25 deacons in the final year who are preparing for ordination and also at present there are 68 seminarians preparing themselves under the guidance of six resident staff members and 25 visiting teachers. The administration of the Seminary is carried out by a Commission elected by the Synod and currently, the Commission members are His Excellency Bishop Joseph Kodakallil of Satna, His Grace Bishop Mar Sebastian Vadakkel of Ujjain and His Grace Mar Raphael Thattil, auxiliary Bishop of Thrissur.
