Alappuzha: The Pullinkunnu St. Mary’s Fortuna Church is a magnificent example of the taluk hospital giving away 2.06 acres of land free of charge. The letter will be handed over to the Chief Minister and Finance Minister today. The Emergency Church Committee meeting, which met last week, unanimously decided to give away land for the implementation of the Rs 149 crore development project announced in the budget. It was only when the panchayat went for permission to construct the building that the documents were submitted.

The hospital superintendent Pulinkunnu wrote to the vicar of Phorankunna Fortuna mosque as the hospital was undocumented. At the meeting, it was decided to hand over 56 cents and 1.5 acres of the 2 survey numbers. The decision to release the land was approved by the parish priest Fr. Archbishop of Changanacherry, Mar Joseph, informed about the Perunthotam area and obtained permission. Legal Advisor Thomas Peter Perumballi has been assigned to take further action. In 1956, 8 cents of land was handed over to the government at Pottumkunnam.
