Reflecting on the call of His Eminence Cardinal Oswald Gracias of Bombay, a group of priests of Archdiocese of Bombay took up their time and efforts in preparing a five-course dinner for their parishioners to raise fund to help the needy. His Lordship Cardinal Gracias had called to initiate programs to support the needy and marginalized people and he wanted each parish of the Archdiocese to start up such initiatives to go beyond the “cold charity” system of donating to collection boxes.

The priests of the Cathedral parish of the Holy Name and Archbishop’s House were encouraged to come up with the idea of a fundraising dinner, particularly since one of the priests is an All-Star Chef. The initiative was mainly aimed at providing a fine dining experience for the parishioners to raise funds for a marginalized community named Katkaris of Raigad.

The entire meal was prepared by the priests with the help of a couple of chef friends and by the trainees from the Hotel Management & Catering Technology division of St. Andrew’s College in Bandra, Mumbai.
