Holy Father Pope Francis joyously received Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic of Croatia, in private audience in the Vatican. The Holy See’s Press office issued a communiqué saying Plenkovic later met Vatican Secretary of State, His Eminence Cardinal Pietro Parolin along with Under- Secretary for Relations with States. As reported by en.radiovaticana.va, During the meeting, the two sides expressed appreciation for the good relations that exist between the Holy See and the Republic of Croatia and for the positive contribution of the Church to the life of the country.

During the cordial discussions, the Holy See and Croatia exchanged views on some themes of mutual interest, including the future of the European project and the regional context, with particular reference to the situation of the Croatian people in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
