In  the  recent  Press  release  of  Catholic  Bishops’  Conference  of  India ( CBCI),  it  conveyed  how  important  it  is  to  have  unity  among  the  people  in  India  in  order  to  live  in  peace  and  harmony.  The  press  release  emphasized  on  the  current  violence  that  are  taking  place  in  India  in  the  name  of  religion,  creed  and  caste.  It  also  highlighted  the  conflicts  in  the  country  that  are  happening    in  the  name  of  animals,  by  the  people  who  call  themselves  as   gaurakhshaks   and  requested  the  people  to  stop  killing  each  other   for  the  sake  of  religions.

His  Excellency  Bishop  Theodore  Mascarenhas,  the  general  secretary  of  Catholic  Bishop’s  Conference  of  India (CBCI) ,  in  the  Press  release  stressed  that,  “ Our  beloved  country  has  been  known  for  its  traditional  peace  and  harmony  and  though  there  have  been  times  when  we  have  seen  unimaginable  violence,  death  and  bloodshed,  our  society  has  bounced  back  to  peace  and  brotherhood.”

Reminding  the  line  from  our  pledge:  India  is  my  country  and  all  Indians  are   my  brothers  and  sisters,  the  Press  release  concluded  by  quoting  that  “Let  us  live  by  our  pledge.”
