Abuja: Thousands of Christians have been killed by Islamic extremists this year in the African country of Nigeria. The Humanitarian Aid Relief Trust released the report, titled ‘Your Land or Your Blood’, with shocking statistics. The report was presented at the International Organization for Peace and Social Justice Crisis Conference held in London. Since January alone, there have been five severe attacks in the tiger state of Nigeria. Five hundred people died.

Violence has taken place in several other provinces. Boko Haram, an Islamic extremist group, and the radical Islamic tribal organization, Fulani Heitzman, are very active in many parts of Nigeria. As of 2015, more than 6,000 Christians have been killed. According to the Humanitarian Aid Relief Trust report, religion and ideology are the main driving force behind the attacks.

The report calls on the international community to recognize the Christian massacre as a genocide. Meanwhile, there is widespread criticism that the media is deliberately avoiding reports of Christian homicide in Nigeria.
